My apologies for my lack of attendance at the local meetings. however my work schedule seems to be mellowing out now so hopefully I will be meeting all of you in the near future!!

I'll check my near term schedule and put together a typical Angeles Chapter outings announcement that can be sent out to the already established lists. If no one shows up at the allotted time, I can just do my own hike as usual (smile). The hikes will likely be on Saturday since I have a regularly scheduled local hiking group on Sunday morning.

Great news, Virgil. What we have for publicizing outings is our website, our email list and our newsletter. We could probably set up a special outings email list if you think that would be helpful.

The funding for my research staff position here at Cornell is becoming a lot more stable so I will be able to start leading some weekend hikes for the Finger Lakes Group. So far I've hiked through regions covering a 40 mile radius around Ithaca so I think that I can put some interesting things together. I need to know if the Group has a process in place for outing scheduling, publicity and administration.

The Finger Lakes Group is participating in the Sierra Club's District Office Lobby Day on Fri., Mar. 6, 2009. We have meetings that day with staff members of Senator George Winner and Assemblymember Tom O'Mara at 10:30 am in Elmira, and with Assemblymember Barbara Lifton, at 1:30 in Ithaca.
